It was inside my garage while it became ugly(er), but for the last week or more it was on my driveway completely stripped. and just for a few hours it sat in the street ready to be picked up. I’m confident my neighbours did not enjoy it’s blight upon their suburbia

they were likely equally unthrilled about it being picked up at 10:30pm, with a combination of wood and a large hard plastic pipe to roll/slide it onto the trailer.

but now I have room to move the red civic about, room to work on cleaning up the donor’s engine.... and room to see the oil stain on the driveway that will need attending to. My neighbours love me :D

Except my neighbours directly across the way, they pretend to be ok with my ugly projects, and I’ve agreed to pretend we don’t know where these black lines came from...

...when really we all know ;)

Did you get any cash for the shell? I have a shell I have to dispose of in the near future, I’m unsure if I’ll get more for it if I chop it and run bits individually to the scrapper or if I can get someone to pick up the shell. It’ll be little more than metal and brake/gas lines when I’m done with it.

step one is a letter, I know the lady on the corner who gives me the side eye is on the HOA. but the letters often come late. I got one about that tree in my front yard being dead, it was slow enough to arrive that I was able to take a photo of it in full bloom and send that back to them

selling for parts is nearly always a better choice. I could have gotten more for its components, but that takes time and space to store things.

I got $400 for the shell with a complete interior.

I got a $250 offer from a scrap yard for it, so that was my baseline.

I think HOAs are (mostly) pure evil. I live in a 60-year-old development and I have an engine and an axle and other car parts in my driveway. I keep my tent trailer parked on my lawn. It was there for nine years and I got a letter from the county that I had to move it, then a note on my door the next day asking if I want to sell it. I wonder who complained to the county?

That pretty much sums up 90% of the Honda scene worldwide. Ive seen someone post up a news article of a guy crashing really bad with his Civic, coming out of it pretty hurt and still some asshole asking if the wheels are for sale. Wtf.

I do not rat out my neighbors. That’s rule number 1.

Rule number 2 - help neighbors who are actually working on projects - yard work, wrenching, building shit or demolishing shit.

Having prissy neighbors is nice, but I appreciate those who roll up their sleeves and get dirty more.
